My journey into healing began far from the city lights—on a remote island off Cape York, where we lived completely off-grid. We grew our own food, gathered fresh seafood daily, and lived in rhythm with nature. With no reception and only a few hours of generated power a day, life was simple, raw, and deeply connected to the land and sea. It was here I discovered the true meaning of health—not just the absence of illness, but the presence of vitality, purpose, and harmony with the natural world.
Drawn to ancient wisdom and the deeper layers of well-being, I later travelled to India to immerse myself in yoga, eventually completing a Cert IV in Yoga Teacher Training. Yoga therapy became a deep passion, particularly the subtle and transformative practice of pranayama. For the past eight years, I’ve been studying pranayama under the guidance of my teacher Clive Sheridan, attending many retreats across India and Australia. These practices have profoundly shaped my inner life—supporting the nervous system, awakening inner awareness, and aligning body and mind with spirit. I continue to teach yoga and breathwork as foundational tools in my work.
In addition to pranayama and yoga therapy, I’ve been practicing Ashtanga yoga for the past 2.5 years under the guidance of Iru from Ashtanga Yoga Belaku. This lineage-based practice has strengthened my commitment to daily discipline, devotion, and the deep integration of breath and movement.
This journey led me to pursue a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy, where I learned to merge traditional plant medicine with evidence-based practice. I am a registered member of ANTA and have worked for over a decade as a naturopath and yoga therapist across private practice, exclusive rehabilitation retreats, and gut health programs—specialising in mental health and digestive health. I also developed a signature 10-day fasting and detox program, which I continue to facilitate today..
Wanting to support others on a deeper emotional and spiritual level, I returned to study and am currently completing a Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy (due August 2025). I am a registered member of PACFA and bring a trauma-informed, integrative approach to my work. Alongside formal training, I hold a Level 2 Reiki certification and draw from intuitive, somatic, and ceremonial practices—including plant medicine—to support whole-person healing.
My approach is integrative, intuitive, and grounded in nature-based wisdom. I believe healing is both an art and a science—a dance between evidence-based care and the innate intelligence of the body, spirit, and earth. I move in harmony with the moon, the sun, and the turning seasons, inviting others to attune to their own natural rhythms and embodied wisdom. My work is rooted in ceremony, presence, and deep listening, interwoven with plant medicine, breathwork, and gentle rituals to support deep reconnection.
When I’m not in clinic or running programs, you’ll find me practicing pottery at mellymagpie.com, making herbal preparations, painting, or adventuring by the ocean. My dream has always been to open an apothecary and build a vibrant community rooted in earth-based medicine, creative expression, and the joy of simply being alive.
